Critical Supervision

Whilst most supervision is planned a few weeks to a few months in advance, from time to time you may wish to access supervision with more limited notice. This will typically be for one of the following reasons:

  • Your well-being is impacted or at risk in relation to your professional practice

  • You are dealing with an ethical issue in your practice that is serious and/or time-sensitive

  • You have left a client session or peer space feeling significantly worried about another person and you are not sure whether or not to take action

I am happy to offer existing supervision clients a free 15 minute phone call, which can be booked with as little as 12 hours notice by using the form on this page

If after our initial call you need more than 15 minutes, I will work with you to identify a time that is mutually convenient for us to continue this work. Please note - supervisory support over 15 minutes is billable at my standard rates

Whilst I care deeply about my clients and believe supervision forms an integral part of professional self-care, my professional responsibility requires me to act within my area of personal expertise, with consideration of the limitations of my practice and experience. Before making a request for a critical supervision session, please consider the following:

Where ethics are a concern:

Fear, shame and confusion can prevent people from speaking about their work when things aren’t straightforward, but you don’t have to work through this on your own. I can offer you a calm and supportive space to speak about your experience and to consider your next steps.

As a member of EMCC UK and in line with the Global Code of Ethics, I have a professional responsibility to maintain and promote excellent practice and ethical principles in coaching and supervision. Specifically:

2.8 - Be guided by my clients interests and at the same time, raise awareness and responsibility to safeguard that these interests do not harm those of sponsors, stakeholders, wider society, or the natural environment

2.12 - To disclose any conflict of interest and act within applicable law and not in any way encourage, assist, or collude with conduct that is dishonest, unlawful, unprofessional, unjust, or discriminatory

3.10 - Challenge another member if I have reasonable cause to believe that the member is acting in an unethical manner and, failing resolution to report that member to the body
